Autumn at the cottage

In Oregon, Autumn has not really begun. Most of the trees are still lush green and loaded with leaves. Really it will be November before it looks like fall here. So it seems that there is a short window for fall decor, then it is on to Christmas decor! I have been busy with some lovely fall items with the vintage cottage style in mind. What's happening at Marionberry Cottage?

Turning the corner into fall, it seems summer was way too quick this year. Here in the Pacific Northwest, summer came late and seems to want to hang on. We are expecting temps to stay well into the 90's thru the middle of the month. After a bit of a break, I have been busy stitching and creating..."ruched" pillows and oven dresses with the tea lover in mind! I have also been scouring the estate sales for vintage linens that are perfect for the shabby cottage decor.

But that's not all. I have so many other pretties in the works at the moment too. A few fun fall items,and yes, (yikes) Christmas is on the horizon. I will also have some of my handmade items at the Christmas Gift Show in Nashville this year, so if you live in the area, stop by the Shabby Lane Shops booth.

This was the original image and the prompt word was bliss

I did a little digital altering, printed the image on fabric, and voila! A pretty Victorian purse!

Mind Wide Open entry

My first challenge entry to Gail's Mind Wide Open blog. Below is the image she gives you to create something with. Your imagination is your only limit! Gail gave everyone the entire month of November to create, so this time I felt there was plenty of time to be "challenged"

I tinted the image with a bit of I yellow and printed it out on fabric. I used bits and pieces of vintage crochet, lace, and vintage jewelry and buttons to surround the image. Lots and lots of vintage crochet and big ruffles and voila~a gorgeous Victorian cottage pillow~

I listed this on my website and sold it to a customer in the United Kingdom within 24hrs!
Thanks Gail for hosting this challenge, it was fun!

UPDATE DECEMBER 10th---I can't believe it--I WON this challenge! I feel so blessed to have been included among so many other talented artists!
